Fundamentals of Quantitative Methods
The aim:
1. To acquaint students with methods of data presentation and description.
2. To present the most-used methods of basic statistics
Acquired knowledge:
1. Knowledge of basic methods of displaying data.
2. Knowledge of basic methods of statistical inference.
Acquired skills:
1. Collecting, describing and analyzing data at primary level.
2. Using basic statistical inference methods.
Acquired social skills:
1. Ability of critical judgment based on data analysis.
Course contents:
1. Describing and displaying data with graphs and numbers.
2. Relationships in data: scatterplots, correlation, least- squares regression.
3. Producing data -experiments design and survey sampling.
4. Introduction to probability. Random variables and their distributions.
5. Statistical model. Random sample, statistics and their distributions.
6. Introduction to inference about the population mean and the proportion.
