Number of hours:  2h X 10 weeks = 20 hours (1 semester)

Objective: 
The course is aimed at providing knowledge on the theoretical and procedural issues relating to the enforcement of human rights before selected international bodies and institutions.

The aim:
To provide knowledge on the modern understanding of human rights.
To provide knowledge on international instruments of enforcement of human rights by individuals.
To provide knowledge on practical application of international instruments.

Acquired knowledge:
Student understands the essence and structure of the modern understanding of human rights.
Student knows the international systems of human rights protection.
Student knows the rules of selected international procedures for the protection of human rights.

Acquired skills:
Student is able to identify the legal issues relating to the principles of international protection of human rights.
Student is able to prepare and use the international legal argumentation to present opinions on presented case.
Student is able to use the international legal instruments and procedings.

Developed reflection:
Student accepts the normative character of human rights and its effects.
Student accepts the need to ensure protection of human rights at the international level.

Assessment: 
The final grade consists of: term papers (40%), class activity (60%).

Modern concept of human rights
Institiutions, instruments and procedings in the frame of european system of human rights protection.
Institiutions, instruments and procedings in the frame of interamerican system of human rights protection.
Institiutions, instruments and procedings in the frame of african system of human rights protection.
United Nations human right treaty bodies.
Human rights litigation in EU.

Recommended reading: 
The course draws on a variety of sources (legal acts, guides, articles), readings will be indicated during the course to provide students with the most curent knowledge.
