History of Forensic Sciences

The aim:
1. Analysis of the development of individual forensic sciences
2. Encouraging students to reflect on the conditions and significance of the development of individual forensic sciences for the detection of crimes and the functioning of the justice system.
3. Familiarizing students with the terminology specific to forensic sciences

Acquired knowledge:
1. The student indicates the relationships between the historical evolution of forensic sciences and related sciences.

Acquired skills:
1. The student uses terminology from the field of forensics.
2. The student indicates criminal phenomena that contributed to the development of forensic science.
3. The student analyzes the literature on selected issues in the field of the history of forensic science.
4. The student determines the application of selected achievements in the history of forensic sciences to detecting crimes.
5. The student expresses his/her own position regarding the usefulness of selected achievements in the field of the history of forensic sciences.
6. The student formulates a short statement on a selected topic from the field of the history of forensic science.

Acquired social skills:
1. The student justifies the need for continuous self-improvement.
2. The student draws conclusions regarding the possibilities of practical application of selected achievements in the field of the history of forensic sciences.
3. During a group discussion, the student presents the arguments for his or her position and refers to other formulated opinions.
4. The student independently organizes his/her work on individual issues in the field of the history of forensic sciences.
5. The student independently supplements his/her knowledge of selected issues in the history of forensic sciences.

7. History of osmological, phonoscopic and handwriting analysis research.
8. History of fingerprinting and DNA testing.
9. History of tool trace research. History of traceology research.
10. History of fiber and weapons research.
11. History of entomological, botanical, taphotomical and geological research.
12. History of art research. History of forensic computing.
13. The role and status of the forensic expert throughout history.
